Charity of the Month

The Baby Bureau

“Founder, Fran Wasserman, started The Baby Bureau in her home in 2011.  She recognized an unmet need in the community for underserved and at-risk babies. What started as a small stack of donated clothing soon turned into many stacks of clothing. Through Fran’s determination, she was able to secure a larger space at the Warminster Campus of Abington Hospital in late 2012. The new location allows for a larger volunteer space that continues to grow.

They started with a partnership of one health department and one local hospital in 2012 and that has grown to a network of over 40 health and human services providers who proudly distributed our Baby Bundles to families in need. Their diverse volunteer staff includes workforce development for local high school students with special needs, participants in the National Honor Society, and community members. They also have adults with special needs who volunteer at The Baby Bureau on a weekly basis.”

Baby Bundles

Their Baby Bundles are created and filled with love and contain approximately 38 seasonally appropriate outfits taking them from 0 to 2T.  A Baby Bundle includes onesies, sleepers, socks, a hat, blankets, bibs, shoes/booties, new rattle, and new baby board book.

Empowering All Abilities Through Opportunity

“Central Bucks School District is committed to providing a supportive, inclusive educational environment where all students can thrive. They offer a wide range of specialized supports and services designed to meet the unique needs of each learner, including individualized education programs (IEPs), speech and language therapy, occupational and physical therapy, behavioral and emotional supports, and specialized academic instruction. Additionally, they embrace inclusive practices by fostering collaboration between general and special education staff, ensuring that students with disabilities are active participants in the classroom and school community. At Central Bucks, they believe every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential in a welcoming and supportive setting.”

Earlier this month, Central Bucks held a community partners appreciation night for CBSD to thank businesses that participated in their program. It was also their 25 year anniversary!

Good Stuff Thrift’s Doylestown manager, Antonniete Rotolo, attended the event and gave a beautiful speech on our behalf. We are grateful to be partners of the Central Bucks Work Based Learning Program. We believe in their mission as much as they do ours. It was a wonderful evening! We wanted to share Antoniette’s speech with you below.

“Good Evening Everyone,

My name is Antoniette Rotolo, I am the store manager at Good Stuff Thrift in Doylestown and I’m honored to be here on behalf of Good Stuff Thrift, an organization built on purpose, powered by people, and grounded in a simple but powerful mission: To operate the most efficient thrift stores possible so that we can provide the highest level of funding to help kids in need in our communities. Our vision is bold: that a lack of resources would never again be the reason a child can’t find a “forever family.”But our work doesn’t stop at helping kids. We’re also deeply committed to helping people of all abilities and backgrounds find purpose, dignity, and opportunity through work. At Good Stuff Thrift, inclusion is not just a value, it’s a daily practice. Whether someone is a student learning the ropes, a volunteer giving back, or an individual in recovery working toward stability, everyone has a place here. We are especially proud to partner with the Central Bucks School District’s Work-Based Learning Program, which gives high school students hands-on job training, real-world experience, and practical skills to help them transition into adulthood. It aligns beautifully with how we strive to show up for our community.

Over the years, we’ve worked with roughly 120 CBSD students at our Doylestown and Buckingham locations. We’ve watched them grow, learn, and even return as adult volunteers, and one of our favorite things? There’s nothing like seeing a former student walk back in just to say hi and share what they’re doing now. At Good Stuff Thrift, we believe in second chances and new beginnings. That’s why we’re also committed to creating opportunities for individuals who are in recovery from addiction. Everyone deserves a chance to rebuild their lives, and we’ve seen the transformation that can happen when people are given a supportive, structured environment where they can grow, contribute, and succeed. Work is more than a paycheck. It’s stability…It’s confidence…It’s healing. And when we offer meaningful work to individuals in recovery, or to those with developmental differences, or students just beginning their journey, we’re helping them take the next step toward a brighter future.

Let me share just how much our collective efforts accomplish each year:

  • We recycle 680 tons, or 1.2 million pounds, of clothing.
  • We benefit from 10,000 hours of volunteer time annually.
  • We have about 142 employees who work approximately 200,000 hours per year across four stores.

Each week we put out:

  • 22,000 home décor items (over 1 million per year)
  • 12,000 pieces of clothing (625,000 per year)
  • 4,800 books (250,000 per year)
  • 1,250 electrical items (65,000 per year)
  • In total, we sell about 1.6 million items every year.
  • We have about 250 to 300 generous volunteers giving their time to support our mission.

These numbers tell the story of an organization that is powered by people, people who care deeply, work hard, and believe in the good we can do together. Because at the end of the day, beautiful things happen when communities come together. We’re not just running thrift stores. We’re building bridges. We’re opening doors. We’re creating opportunities for kids, for individuals in recovery, for students with diverse abilities, and for anyone who wants to make a difference. When we come together, businesses, schools, volunteers, staff, and supporters, we build something stronger than any one of us could do alone. At Good Stuff Thrift, we’re proud to be a part of that. And we’re grateful for everyone who joins us on this journey.

Thank you.

Antoniette Rotolo”
